Jordan Bergeron, PE
CEO / Principal Engineer
Standard Engineering, LLC is owned by Jordan Bergeron. Jordan is an active Professional Engineer and a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. During his time in college, he worked at Coast Machinery where he learned all the joys of building and servicing marsh buggies. At Coast Machinery, the Marsh Master was born, and you can read all about it at www.marshmaster.com if you want a more thorough history and explanation of the equipment that Jordan worked on and built during his time there.
He started out not knowing a lot and washing marsh buggies and building tracks. Through his time there, he became an apprentice to his supervisor who was an excellent mechanic and an artist as a machinist. He also took the time to learn from everyone who knew more than he did because he knew that he could always become better. He learned to appreciate design engineering while working at Coast from admiring his boss’s designs that were all done, by hand, without the assistance and convenience of modern day CAD.
During his time in high school, Jordan worked for Design/Build Associates, Inc. Design/Build is a general contracting company that focuses on commercial construction. He began as a general laborer performing jobs like demolition and sweeping up job sites to keep them clean, and eventually, he worked his way up to project supervisor performing supervision of multiple job sites and managing workflows from an on-site position. The work he performed in high school helps him to understand commercial buildings through the lenses of the architects, designers, and contractors who design and build them.
After graduating from LSU, Jordan worked for Chevron Energy Technology Company in Houston, TX, where he learned extensively about large scale rotating equipment including gas turbines, centrifugal and reciprocating compressors, pumps, and generators. He transferred to Lafayette, LA for Chevron after that and worked in Chevron's Gulf of Mexico Business Unit, managing offshore capital and maintenance projects as a facilities engineer on the Gulf of Mexico shelf. He worked back and forth, traveling between Lafayette and Covington, working with teams from both locations to ensure successful completions of projects.
As his family grew, Jordan made the decision to jump to onshore operations and quit working at Chevron to work at a small chemical plant in St. Gabriel, LA making R-134A refrigerant. He managed capital projects and was area engineer for several turnarounds at Mexichem, which is now Koura.
Jordan now has a broad spectrum of experience in the industries of commercial construction, upstream oil and gas, manufacturing, and chemicals.
